4 October 2011

As of this afternoon, most of the collector editions have now been shipped from California to nine countries as well as the United States. Standard editions will start shipping next week.

I have hand-delivered several collector copies to purchasers here in the Los Angeles area, and the response has been very rewarding for me. Writing tends to be primarily a solitary task, and so it is wonderful to be able to look at least some of my readers in the eye and receive their feedback directly.

My next opportunity to see some of you will be at the Head of the Charles Regatta in just over two weeks' time.

I will be passing around these cards as I walk the banks of the Charles, visit the Harvard boathouse and attend the National Rowing Foundation reception. I'm really excited. This is only my third trip back to the regatta since I stroked the winning lightweight eight in 1966.

Come seek me out at the Sew Sporty Tent in the vendor area during the hours listed above. I'd love to see you. I hope all the books should be in the hands of their purchasers by then, so come tell me what you think.

After that it is on to the River & Rowing Museum in Henley for the Rowing History Forum on October 29 and then perhaps the USRowing Convention in Hartford, Connecticut and the 2012 Olympics on Dorney Lake. Then I hope to get back to some rowing, coaching and mentoring, so maybe I'll see you on the water beginning in 2012.
